3 Reasons Why You Should Choose This Self Assessment Tool

Self assessments are a great way to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses as a leader. As I mentioned in a previous article understanding your strengths and weakness is critical to the success of a leader. Great leaders understand the importance of taking time to self-assess. Unfortunately, with our busy schedules, we seldom have the time to conduct a complete self-assessment. However, in today’s world of technology, leaders can choose from several quick and easy online self-assessments that are available from your phone or tablet. 16 Personalities may be one of the best!

16 Personalities self assessment

According to their website, the 16 personalities model utilizes the acronym format introduced by Myers-Briggs for its simplicity and convenience, with an extra letter to accommodate five rather than four scales. Every person that I’ve recommended this personality test to is surprised at how accurate it is. The 16 Personalities website claims that over 140 million users have taken the test available on the site. The number of users coupled with the accuracy makes this one of the favorites for leaders. Here are my reasons for it being one of my favorites:

1. It’s Free

To take the self assessment test, it’s free and provides your personality type with eight detailed sections, ranging from career paths to parenting to relationships. For the average individual, the results are comprehensive enough that the free version will suffice. However, if an individual is looking for more detailed options, they are available for fairly reasonable pricing.

If you want a detailed profile of your personality type, the company offers a 267-page e-book for $29. They also provide an interactive profile for tests, tools, exercises, and research data for an individual profile. Finally, there is also an option for downloading e-books and interactive courses for all 16 personalities, which could help a business purchase for its employees.

2. It’s Detailed

I haven’t found a free online personality test that provides this level of detail. There are plenty of personality tests that provide a Meyer Briggs result with some bullets for your personality type, but few are as comprehensive or user-friendly as 16 personalities.

Starting with a detailed overview of the results, then provides your personality type’s strengths and weaknesses. From there, you can read about how your personality type performs in romantic relationships, friendships, or even parenting. Next, you can go into career paths and workplace habits. In all, there are a total of eight sections that are part of the free test. Also, you can access and read the details of all the personality tests without taking the test.

3. It’s User Friendly

The self assessment test takes less than ten minutes, and the questions are relatively easy to discern. One of the website’s best attributes is that there is no registration or signup required to test or view a personality type’s details. So, if you already know your personality type and want to review some of the details, it’s easy.

My 13-year-old had no problem taking the test, and my family took it while we were waiting for our food at a restaurant. A person can easily take it while on their lunch break. Additionally, the website is well designed, and the characters representing the personality types are an excellent addition.

Conclusion

Overall, this is a great, free, quick, and easy way to take time out to conduct a quick self-assessment. This self-assessment is also an excellent tool for leaders to use with their employees. I asked everyone in my office to take the tests; the results were very informative for me as a leader.
